The Co-operators:
a great choice for group benefits.

June 2010

Looking for a great benefit plan for your group clients? After more than 50 years of offering group benefits, The Co-operators has retained the flexibility to meet the various needs of our many different clients.

Here are just a few of the benefits your clients will enjoy when they choose The Co-operators.

Excellence in service
Your clients and their plan members will benefit from a client-focused disability claims experience with our disability management processes and protocols. Plan sponsors will receive a call from a Disability Case Manager when they submit their first disability claim. Together we’ll discuss the claims process, when they will hear from us and their role in return to work. And rather than waiting for a written claims decision in the mail, plan sponsors and plan members will receive a call when we’ve reached a decision for all disability claims.

Innovative products to address their unique needs
Our pre-natal benefit is included with dependent life coverage for Small Business Series clients on a standard basis, and it can be added to enhance dependent life coverage for larger groups. Coverage begins at 20 weeks gestation, whereas the industry generally offers dependent life coverage for infants 24 hours or 14 days after birth.

Tax-effective plans to help them and their plan members manage their expenses
Groups with as few as three lives can take advantage of our stand-alone Health Spending Account (HSA).  An HSA allows plan sponsors to offer a health and dental plan that is not influenced by inflation or plan member usage, so they can control the cost. HSA also offers plan members personalized coverage and flexibility and choose how they use the benefits.

The Co-operators is a clear alternative in the Canadian group insurance marketplace. Contact your Group Business Development Manager for more information about these and other benefits to working with us for your group insurance needs.
