At The Co-operators, we want to ensure it’s easy to do business with us. One way we fulfill this goal is by using technology that makes every client experience positive, including our health and dental solution, which has been in successful operation for the past two years.
We are one of very few Canadian insurers to use a single platform for health and dental claims. Our fully integrated system for all health, dental, drug and health spending account claims simplifies the entire process. It consolidates all claims in house, under one system; most other insurers have one system for medical, dental and reimbursement drug claims, plus a third-party adjudicator and/or system for pay-direct drug claims.
In addition to the cost containment options it offers, the benefits of the system include:
- Increased efficiency and flexibility, which is passed on to our clients in the form of better service. For example, our single platform allows us to accommodate overall extended health care deductibles or maximums. Insurers who operate multiple systems may need to apply separate deductibles to health and drug claims, but our single platform allows us to apply deductibles just as our clients intended them.
- Access to unique plan designs. Because all claims are managed with the same database on a real-time, 24/7 basis, we can add some customized features, such as combining extended health care and dental deductibles.
